The Frankfurt Motor show is called ‘The Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung’ in German. It can also be called the ‘Frankfurt Auto Show’. Being one of the world’s biggest and most popular auto shows, it gets a lot of attention and is a great way to see the new models. Actually, in recent years, the show has 2 parts: In even-numbered years, commercial vehicles are displayed in to the north in Hanover, in odd-numbered years, passenger vehicles are shown in Frankfurt. The show dates back to 1897 and the dates in 2011 are from September 15th to September 25th. As a side note, in 2001, the show was scheduled to begin just 2 days after the terrorist attacks on September 11th. This show was not cancelled, but certain ceremonies were modified in respect for the lives lost.
Some 34 production cars were displayed at the show representing both 2011 and 2012 model years. In addition, 29 concept cars from 22 manufacturers were present. One of the featured stars of the show was certainly the Volkswagen ‘up’. The ‘up’ arrived for the first time in 1997 as a concept car. Back then it was a rear wheel drive, rear engine automobile. Today’s version is front wheel drive with an engine in front containing 3 cylinders in a 1.0 liter configuration that burns gasoline and is turbocharged. An electric version, which can be plugged in, has been announced for 2013.
The Suzuki Swift Sport has been described as ‘the reigning Japanese pocket rocket with real grassroots cult following’. Available in Australia for starters, this new model boasts a 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine. It uses a six-speed manual transmission, 18 inch wheels, a large rear wing and new headlights. The rear lighting has been changed over the 2010 model and the body has been lowered closer to the ground. There are new bucket seats and different instrumentation. The car also has a 22% increase this year. Probably available in Australia and Europe, there is no formal announcement about a release date in the U.S. as of this writing. It is also important to note that regardless of what car you drive, it is always wise to get the cheapest car insurance rate. The Nissan Leaf and The Chevy Volt
by Marco Muriel on Oct.31, 2011, under Cars
In this day and age, “going green” is on everyone’s minds. People are coming up with creative ways to save energy and reduce pollution, and this includes car manufacturers. There are many hybrid cars now, but only recently have car companies released mass produced electric only cars. Enter the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt.
Nissan touts the Leaf as the first car without a tailpipe. The car produces no emissions whatsoever. Under the hood, the Leaf has an 80 kw electric motor capable of getting the car to an impressive 90 mph. The motor is powered by a 24 kw lithium ion battery, which is charged with a built in 3.3 kw charger where the gas tank opening would normally be. One charge will get you around 100 miles of driving distance. The Leaf also has five doors (four normal doors and a back hatch) and has room to seat five comfortably. The styling is compact yet modern and sleek, which is fitting for a car of the future. The Leaf is also relatively affordable at $35,200.
If you are looking to get the cheapest rates for car insurance, you can get more information here at carinsurancee.org so you can know where to get the cheapest prices and which insurance providers are the best. Finding the best quote for car insurance is easy to do and can save you a ton of money each year.
Chevy is countering Nissan’s offering with the Volt, whose big selling point is the fact that you’ll never run out of battery power while driving. Unfortunately, it is because the Volt has a 1.4L gas engine that recharges the battery as the car is driven, a fact that Nissan likes to point out. To add insult to injury, the recharging engine only runs on premium fuel. The 16 kw lithium ion battery is capable of pumping out 150 hp, and the driver has the ability to switch from electric to gas power at the touch of a button. The four door body style is more conventional than the Leaf’s and fits in nicely with the rest of Chevy’s offerings. The Volt is slightly cheaper at $32,780, but the cost of premium gas will even out the price difference.

La Flor Dominicana
by admin on Oct.31, 2011, under Uncategorized
La Flor Dominicana is known for its strong flavored full bodied cigars like the Digger, here though they made a cigar that differs form the norm but remarkably stays true. First off, look at this cigar! It is a beauty. The contrast of the Rosco wrapper and the light Ecuadorian Connecticut tips and decorative beehive cap plays very well. Add in the perfect shape and you get a great looking unique cigar. Before we get on with the review a word of advise: cut just under the pig tail or just slightly more. Not much is need to get a good draw.
From the first puff perceptions of La Flor Dominicana as featuring bold flavors blown out the window. The initial draw was creamy, sweet and subtle with a white pepper finish. Quit frankly this was very surprising but not unwelcome in the least. The first third was medium bodied and featured nutty, light spice, cocoa, and sweet cream flavors and light citrus notes which became steadily stronger through the first third of the Mysterio Oscuro. A good start to a surprising complex and subtle cigar.

Hiking Backpacks
by admin on Oct.31, 2011, under Uncategorized
A leader in expedition and hiking backpacks has developed a new technology called JetStream LTS which makes carrying a pack a much more comfortable experience. In this newly designed pack, there’s no mesh panel resting against your back to control moisture. Instead, there is nothing at all against your mid back which allows air to flow freely across it. You can carry the pack’s weight more easily as the innovative, curved aluminum allow/frame sheet combination distributes the weight ergonomically.

The packs also have a new innovative waist-belt adjustment system that provides three full size settings for maximum comfort. On the harnesses, there is now extra padding to reduce stress on your shoulders.
I recommend the Jade 50, a women’s overnight pack that was voted “best all-around weekend pack” by Backpacker magazine. For just $200, you can try this new technology for a reasonable price.
