In 1964, at the World’s Fair in New York, Walt Disney introduced “It’s a Small World.” At the end of the Fair, the attraction was moved to Disneyland where it has operated for over forty-five years other than some downtime for maintenance and refurbishment. Meanwhile, across the pavilion, on April 17, 1964, Ford Motor Company introduced the Ford Mustang, another American tradition that has continued for over forty-five years.
Initial sales of the Mustang were only surpassed by Henry Ford’s Model “A.” The original Mustang had a MSRP that was $2368. The vehicle borrowed framework as well as other parts from Ford’s Falcon as well as their Fairlane models. Some of the first Mustangs had the Falcon’s 100 HP engines. The Falcon’s emblem even showed up in the horn ring in the first models of the Mustang. Although Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) identify those first Mustangs as 1965 models, collectors call them a 1964 1/2 model. There were several very significant differences in the actual 1965 models. A 1964 1/2 Mustang in good condition today could bring over thirty thousand dollars.
The body of the Mustang has changed throughout the years, yet it is still easy to spot a Mustang. The characteristic grill and side swoop make the vehicle easily recognizable.
Trying to copy Ford’s success, other automakers quickly brought out their own version of the “Pony car.” The main characteristic of each was the large hood in comparison to the small trunk.
Research had shown Ford that cars had become too large for many women drivers by 1960. Remember that this was before power steering was common. Ford’s first answer was the Falcon, the first American compact car. Designers of the Mustang wanted to build a car that had appeal for both men and women. The design did so well that the Falcon production ended in 1970.
The Mustang grew in popularity and size over the next few years.
The Mustang is now in its fifth Generation. A 2010 model will offer plenty of power, coming equipped with a 4. 6 liter 316 horsepower gasoline engine. Ford has beefed up the suspension and new Mustangs offer more stability than ever. New Mustangs are designed so that they can use regular unleaded gasoline for economical situations, but also can use premium gasoline when additional torque is needed.
The 2010 Mustang is one of the fifth generation of Mustangs. Power is no problems since it is equipped with a 316 horsepower, 4. 6 liter engine. The new Mustang is more stable than before and has a better suspension. The engine is designed to use either regular or premium unladed gasoline. While regular gasoline will be great for most driving, in situations where more torque is needed, premium will provide it.
In its forty-five year history, the Ford Mustang has seen many changes. The vehicle continues to be on of Ford’s best sellers.

The Rise & Fall of 1st Generation Ford Mustangs
by Kerry Nite on Jul.18, 2009, under Mustang
The Mustang is a automobile model that was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. The first generation Mustangs were from 1964 to 1973. The Ford Motor Company retooled the failing Ford Falcon into the first Mustang. The Ford Falcon had had seen some success but sales were beginning to drop so the Ford manufacturing plants were ready for the Mustang.
Close to the dawn of the space age, on the day of March 9, 1964 the first Mustang was produced. The Ford Mustang was born and it grabbed the attention of that generation and it was very popular. Since that time, the Mustang aim has become synonymous with American values as apple pie and Lee Greenwood. Introduced to the world at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964, it became Ford’s most successful launch since the hugely popular model A! The Ford Mustang is the only original pony car to maintain continuous production from its beginning until now. There is still high demand for the Mustang, even in this economy.
The first Mustang generation was considered in the “pony car” class of cars. In order to call the first mustang the mother of pony cars, we need to define what a pony car is. A pony car is a coupe that has long hood in short rear decks. Pony cars are very masculine and this is very true with the first generations of the Mustang. Because of the rise of this extremely popular car, competitors began developing their own versions of the pony car. It inspired cars such as the Chevy Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, AMC’s Javelin, and later cars like the Toyota Celica.
I will never forget the first car that I had as a teenager. It was the last member of the first-generation Mustangs. It was the 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 and it was beautiful. I don’t know why my dad let me have the car, but he did. I had the time of my life in those years and like a brand burned into the side of a farm animal, my soul has been branded with a hot brand known as the Mustang.
I remember the days when I was a teenager and driving around in the 73 Mustang that my father gave me on my 16th birthday. It wasn’t new but it seemed like it to me at the time. With new-found freedom, and a part of muscle car history, I was proud to own that old Mustang. The girls came and went at my love for the Ford Mustang never left my heart. Unfortunately in 1989, I sold that old car. It’s a many years of wear and tear from my wild teenage years. Today, I wished I had taken a little better care of that old classic muscle car. I guess it is kind of like the kids from the 1950s that had their Mickey Mantle baseball card thrown out by their mother, except that did this to myself. I haven’t quite seen a 1973 Mustang that looks exactly like mine, but that won’t stop me from looking. The car is forever in my heart.

Super cars
by admin on Jul.02, 2008, under Cars, Mustang
There are many models of super cars in the market produced by manufacturers like Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, Subaru and other Companies. The Chevy Tahoe of 2008 manufactured by General Motors is an excellent car for large families. But people do read car news and they do not opt for these types of cars as they consume lots of gas. It gives an average mileage of twenty one kilometers in the city and twenty two kilometers on the highway.
It has the towing capacity of six thousand pounds. It is spacious so it is an ideal car for a big family. The Subaru Impreza WRX which has been introduced in 2008 is a copy of the previous year’s model. It can be easily driven on mountain roads as it has the capacity to go on high and low speed on the second gear. In the interior the seats have head rest which provides comfort.
It consumes average amount of fuel and its steering system is little loose and so maneuvering it on turns and curves creates difficulty. Mazda 2 or the Mazda Demio is not preferred by the US consumers. It has not been able to capture the market as its performance has not been verified and there is no information about what type of interior it has. There are other Super cars in the market and so there is a tough competition going on as to which model will prove to be the best.
